About the Manager Skills Assessment Program

Over the last 25 plus years of retailer and manager training, LJT Management Services has developed a set of characteristics and traits of effective managers. We have quantified this in our unique Manager Skills Assessment Program. The assessment is made up of three basic components.

General Business Skills Assessment

  • Hard Skills/everyday operations
  • Accounting knowledge
  • Business formulas
  • Business processes

Behavior Assessment

  • Attitude, ambition, competitiveness, understanding and execution skills

Situational Assessment for existing managers:

  • studies the current store operations in terms of employee, vendor, inventory, merchandising accounting and site safety processes and implementation skills.

The training is interactive with tests and exercises that have been designed and developed so that we can assess the results and generate a report for the retailer or wholesaler, (depending on the wholesaler agreement with the retailer).

The report takes into account the General Business Skill factors weighted to allow LJT to provide a score and a detail of the challenges that the manager will face when they are back at their locations.

This report includes both additional skills necessary and/or the behaviors that need to be adjusted to the realities of the business.

The report can be used by a wholesaler to develop a customized call plan for the manager or to arrange for additional support by a business coach and/or other resources to strengthen the business operation to improve the manager’s chances of success in implementing new skills at the site level.
